100 Years of Kruger National Park with Dirk Steffens
A film by Annette Scheurich
Documentary (44 min.), WDR 2026
For 100 years, Kruger National Park has been a symbol of the protection of African wilderness. To mark the anniversary, Dirk Steffens explores one of the largest and most biodiverse nature reserves on Earth. On game walks, alongside veterinarians in action, and in conversations with local communities, he experiences the park from different perspectives.
The film combines spectacular wildlife encounters with current issues in conservation and shows why Kruger is far more than a protected area: it is a habitat, an employer, a source of hope — and an inspiration for millions of people around the world.
