On the Curonian Spit in Lithuania between the Baltic Sea and the lagoon, winter reveals a very special magic. Some of the highest dunes in Europe and over 50 kilometres of beach lie deserted and empty. Wild boar and moose take advantage of the welcome peace and quiet to go for long walks. While the wild animals explore the landscape of the sandbank, scientists, fishermen, artists and forest workers look after the culture and nature of the spit and prepare for the bustle and excitement of the approaching spring.
